Why the S&M Lifestyle is Self-Destructive and Reactionary: The Story of an Idiotic Friend of Mine « The Activists→

S&M, another extension of the office space, for office workers who are addicted to orders and systems of control in their lives; so addicted in fact, that they turn their sexuality into a systematic corporate machine.
LBR this sounds pretty hot though. Agamben somewhere says something like we can prefigure the post-messianic playfulness of the law by dressing up like authoritarian rulers and having sex, but he doesn’t combine this with his other theory about the petit bourgeoisie as the contemporary universal class. If everyone today tends to the condition of the petit bourgeoisie, there is no longer any authoritarian ruling class; instead we should prefigure messianic playfulness by having sex while pretending to be ourselves, in all of our bureaucratic banality.
(Also, if The Activists thinks calling S&M “self-destructive” is a criticism, he needs to read Leo Bersani)
