Bit conflicted about posting this as I heard about it in a PR email (which may have turned my head as I basically never get them, IDK why the music industry is so uninterested in reaching out to Marxist Britney fans), but it’s so fucking good. The PR in question described it as “a forward-thinking pop song that stands apart from the typical chart sounds of 2012,” which TBH I’m not sure is true; it’s boshing rave-pop that wouldn’t have sounded all that out of place on the last Saturdays album. But this isn’t a criticism, it just means they’ve figured out how to do boshing rave-pop right. It’s more early-nineties hardcore than Guetta-esque late-nineties hard trance (they seem to have borrowed some synths from the Prodigy’s “Out of Space,” an excellent choice), and a cleverer organization of affects, combining the euphoria of the vocals with the bodily pleasure of a warm bass line. It’s also a free download.
