Everything is suggestive of coldness: marble body, women of stone, Venus of ice are favorite expressions of Masoch; his characters often serve their amorous apprenticeship with a cold statue, by the light of the moon (Deleuze, Coldness and Cruelty)
This kind of seems like an accurate description of Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, except that fur and marble are replaced with the smoothness of bakelite and the scratch of polyester.
