T-ara’s way of standing out in the crowded field of K-Pop girl groups seems to be their ludicrously epic music videos. They’ve recently got so bloated (“Cry Cry” and “Lovey Dovey” received a 30-minute video which was kind of a Leon knock-off, while “Day by Day” and “Sexy Love” have a similarly sized video about, IDK, post-apocalyptic samurai girl gangs or something) that they need to release subsidiary videos that actually include the song. Sadly their videos are better than their songs (my favorite is the very SAW remix of “Roly Poly”), although the I like kazooey synth sound at the beginning of “Sexy Love,” as it reminds me of the sort of Euro dance tracks that would show up in the UK charts for a week at the end of the summer, when everyone got back from their holidays (it’s somewhere between “I Want to be a Hippy” and “King of My Castle”).
