What’s so odd about this story is that the very passage that BHL quotes from the fictional Botul is one of the oldest jokes about Kant in existence - the claim that, as a transcendental idealist, Kant did not himself exist.
It’s one thing to be ignorant about the history of philosophy; worse to be ignorant of the history of jokes about philosophy.
